James R. Hickman, Jr.
Attorney at Law
I grew up in East Tennessee and have lived here my whole life, but for a couple of years in college. My family lives in this community and my kids go to school here. Sevier County is home.
I did my undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee. GO VOLS! and then attended the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphries School of Law.
I took and passed the Tennessee Bar Exam in June of 1999 and began my one-man practice in Sevier County on November 15th, of that year. Since then I have been a solo attorney, a partner in a large law firm, and am now back to being a solo lawyer again. The one thing I have not been as a lawyer is "someone else's employee," I work for my clients, not for someone else.
i am licensed to practice in any State or Federal Court in the State of Tennessee.
From the very beginning of my tenure as an attorney, I have practiced "open-door" law. In other words, whatever walks in the door. I pride myself on being able to serve a variety of legal needs, from adoptions to divorce, and from criminal defense to child support.
